like it! But heed review @ possible problem.. November 19, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
It really kicks out the steam and is easy to use, but when I plugged it in I got the flashing and no steam as well. The other reviewers advice helped me to fix it... as he said "it would only blink at me and not start misting. The screw cap for the water tank, onto which one first screws in the demineralization cartridge, has a small rubber gasket. that gasket was too far down against the outer screw cap, which meant the spring loaded button would not work properly to let the water descend into the base tank . The solution: push up on that small rubber gasket so that it is as far up and away from the screw cap as it can be without falling off, and voila!" thanks to this advice it works great!
Overall a good product but could use little improvements February 11, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I am glad I picked this model over the others available based on the reviews . Overall I am happy with the performance. The thing about the unit not starting up on the first fill (or after cleaning) is only because you need to give it time so that the water flows down into the lower compartments where the ultrasonic device is situated (this is also explained in the user manual if you care to read it).
Pros: * Overall good design and built. Water container is built of heavy plastic and feels well constructed. * Water filter cartridge is a plus and is easy to install and remove (don't forget to dip the new cartridge in warm water before using as explained in the manual) * Electronic controls are easy and intuitive to use.
Cons: * Humidity sensor could be improved. The unit's humidity displays jumps about a lot as if confused about the actual humidity levels. This could also be due to the fact that the mist tends to fall down towards the floor and is dense around the unit thus confusing the sensor. It could really use a remote sensor. * Low hysteresis makes the device stop/start frequently around the set humidity (also a side affect of having sensor problems above) * Filling water could be little tricky particularly for elderly or weak. It could use some holding scheme (like little recess for digging in fingers to hold the reservoir while filling) to make it easy to fill water. I always fill this unit using the bath tub tap as I can let it rest on the bath tub floor while it is filling up.
Good, but with unexpected AC problem February 24, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Much has been said about this humidifier already. There is no need to repeat here. Bought 2 for about 1 month ago and ran into some unexpected issue with the AC system. As other reviewers stated, this machine put out fine white dust due to the hard water. I don't mind the dust on my furniture, but just found out that the dust was so fine, it plugged up my AC filter. I have the expensive 3M filter that has ultra small holes. I changed my filter about the same time I bought the machine. One month later, the AC can't get enough intake air and shut-down. The filter look like new, except when you blow on it, some fine dust fall out. I have to switch to a cheaper filter (has larger holes). Hope this will work. I'm still curious as if there is any health effect from inhaling such fine dust.
Best one I've tried yet! February 24, 2008 This humidifier is almost totally quiet. I've tried a couple less expensive models, and they were terrible. This one is worth the money you pay for it. I highly recommend it. It is a little awkward to fill the water tank, but so far, all the ones I've seen fill the same way. I think it's just the nature of the beast. A very small drawback for all the benefits.
Works pretty good..... March 11, 2008 Well the Venta works pretty well so far, the only gripe is that the warm mist doesn't work....not that I really need it but it would be nice if it did. Definitely worth the cash I paid for it. If you are looking for a humidifier that has a warm mist that works look toward the AirOSwiss 7135. The nice thing about the Venta is that the silver component is in the filter cartridge. The Air O Swiss has seperate components (more $$). For people who complain about the white dust, try to use distilled water ONLY. If you go from tap to distilled, it may take a little while for the minerals in the water to clear (may keep getting white dust for a while). I only usually need the lower and mid settings and they both give at least 12 hrs. Not sure about the high setting, but it does give off quite a lot of mist.
