My wife and I both had sinus problems this winter until we got a couple of these units for our living area, and it's been like night and day. We feel better, no sinus problems, and have more energy. We keep them running 24x7.
The only problem is if we forget to fill the reservoir and the units run out of water overnight and the house gets dry, we wake up with sinus headaches. But that's hardly the humidifier's fault!
The units indeed register 30% when the humidity is below that. But we prefer the target humidity to be 35% or over, so that's not a problem for us.
I like them so much, I'm going to buy another one for my home office.

This is my 3rd portable humidifier - the other two are in the garage collecting dust. I am *very* pleased with the Venta. It raises the humidity very quickly and it is practically silent. Just fill it with tap water, and the included filter will ensure that your room won't be covered in white dust. I have had no problems at all with the unit.
It is true that the built-in hygrometer is not accurate. However, that needn't be a problem. Just determine how much humidity you want (perhaps by using a separate hygrometer), then set the Venta at whatever level maintains that humidity. Considering the overall excellence of the Venta, it is easy to forgive the hygrometer problem.

I needed to get a humidifier because my wife and I have been getting sick with very bad sinus infections due to the dryness of our apartment.
Bought the unit @ BB&B and got the unit up and running in about 15 mins. most of the time was spent on filling the unit with water. I found it helpful to set the unit on a chair with a towel under it so it would not be awkward. After filling the unit and soaking the filter I placed it onto the base (with a little effort).
After turning the unit on it blinked for about 5 mins while the water started filling the base and offsetting the auto-off function and then started misting. So far i love my humidifier. The ONLY con so far is that the warm mist is cool, and not as warm as i would have liked it, but i heard that you need to leave the unit on warm for a while before it can heat the water properly.
Enjoy this unit, it is great!

I initially was leary of it because the mist isn't very warm and I couldn't figure out that Co would give me continuous mist even though the humidity read high. It was high that day. My son got a respiratory thing within two weeks of purchase and he loved it. It soothed his sinuses and lungs and he was able to easily manage the operation of it.

Such a quality product and easy to clean. Cleans quickly and easily using only water a little brush that comes with it. Extremely quiet. NO WHITE DUST! Easy to change the demineralization cartridge, just unscrew the old one out and screw the new one in. I love the warm or cold mist option and the built in hygrostat. I have a separate hygrostat across the room and they are always reading within 2 points of each other. Planning on buying two more at BB&B with 20% coupon. They sell the replacement cartridges too. I couldn't be happier.
